The Countdown is on...

After months of planning, preparing, studying, singing, playing and practicing the Nazareth Academy Chorale and Chamber Orchestra are only days away from flying off to Italy for a week!

All 44 travellers are gearing up for our departure this Saturday. We will be spending two days in Florence, making a day trip to Pisa and Assisi, and spending 4 days in Rome, the eternal city.

Right when we get off the plane on Sunday we will be travelling directly to Vatican City to attend mass and hear the Angelus led by the Pope in St. Peter's Square. Not that we weren't already excited before, however with the announcement of Pope Benedict XVI's retirement yesterday (read story here) we realized that we will be at one of the last few public appearances of Pope Benedict before his retirement on the 28th.

Tonight, Tuesday, February 12 we will be having our send off concert in the Chapel at Nazareth at 7:30 p.m. You we hear some lovely works by Bach, Palestrina, William Billings, Moses Hogan and many more. Hope to see you there.
Check back on Saturday for more updates as viaggiamo in Italia!

Here are some of our performing venues:

While in Florence we will be performing a concert at Chiesa di Santa Maria dei Ricci on February 18.

We are lucky enough to be singing a Mass at the Main Altar of the Vatican on February 20.

Our final concert will be held at the Generalate of the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth on February 21.

A presto!
